To mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day, ITV sent The Traitors' winner Harry Clark to the British Normandy Memorial in Northern France to reflect on his own military experience. While there, historian Natasha Billson surprises Harry with a revelation he won't soon forget.

Almost every one of us has a mobile phone. In fact, studies calculate that there are more mobile phones than people on the planet. For most of us, they are indispensable, the first thing that we look at in the morning and the last thing that we look at at night. We carry them everywhere and worry if we misplace them. But, considering their importance, does anyone really know what, and who, was involved in the manufacture of their mobile, and where it goes once we’ve upgraded it?

This experiential, immersive documentary focuses on four key stages in the life of a mobile phone, highlighting not only the labour and resources that go into their production, but where they can end up after they leave our hands.

To mark the BBC centenary, and funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, emerging filmmakers across the UK were given access to 150 films from the BBC Archive.

All Remains The Same Under The Sun looks at the repetitious cycles within our lives, how these behaviors and lifestyles have led to a breakdown in both climate and mental health, and how, ultimately, when we look back across the generations, little has changed in how we fundamentally live our lives.

In the style of a music video, the film was created using BBC archive footage, which was degraded by repeated recordings to VHS tape, the quality of which was increasingly degraded as the film progresses. The final film was screened at the Bertha DocHouse in London.

In 2017, whale biologist Nan Hauser had an extraordinary, one-of-a-kind experience. While snorkeling in the pristine waters of the Cook Islands, a Humpback Whale approached Nan and for 10 minutes pushed her around with its mouth and fin. Only at the end of this interaction did Nan notice something that could have triggered this strange behavior.

This film delves into the fascinating story of Nan’s interactions with the whale and seeks to understand why we, as humans, get so much from interacting with animals, what animals may take from these experiences, and why we’re more connected to the natural world than we realise. 22-year-old Alfie Bowen is an up and com­ing wildlife pho­tog­ra­ph­er whose work is start­ing to take the world by storm, and his fans include the likes of Chris Pack­ham and Richard Bran­son. But his life wasn’t always this promising.

Having been diagnosed with autism at age 11, he was bullied constantly at school, and at university, which resulted in suicide attempts and psychosis. What kept him going throughout all of this was his love for animals, and finding an outlet for this passion through photography. An Eye For Detail explores how nature and art can become not only an outlet for those living with disabilities but a therapy for people struggling with mental illness.

Inside Time is a short film that looks at the experience of lockdown that isn’t about headlines or statistics but about the small, simple ways in which it has perhaps transformed us, taught us something about time, about ourselves inside time. About how it stopped the clock for all of us.

The film is a product of The Shooting From Home Project, which I started back in March 2020, shortly after the lockdown began in the UK. I realised there must be loads of filmmakers, like me, stuck at home with no work, lots of time, and professional camera equipment just sitting around gathering dust, so I thought I would start a project to try and create something inspiring and beautiful out of the situation. With help from The Smalls and their filmmaking community, we collaborated with filmmakers from around the world, each giving us a glimpse of how they spent this unprecedented moment in time.
